Speakers:  Cathy Crites, CMA —  Cathy is currently the Operations Accounting Manager at J.R. Simplot Co. for the AgriBusiness Group headquartered in Boise and is responsible for managing the cost accounting function, including the development and monitoring of product costing systems and processes, other cost accounting projects, and all inventory control matters.  Before joining J.R. Simplot Co. in 2003, Cathy held various cost accounting positions of increasing responsibility at chemical manufacturing plants in Idaho and Michigan with Monsanto Co. and Solutia, Inc. (the spin-off of Monsanto’s chemical businesses) over a ten year period.  She graduated from the University of Idaho in 1993 with a B.S. in Accounting.

Mollie Sweet, MBA, CMA, SPHR —  Associate Professor of Business for Northwest Nazarene University, Mollie has been a professor since 2003. She has 5 years accounting experience in various industries ranging from a grocery giant to a leading title company. She earned a bachelor degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and Human Resource Management, from Miami University (Oxford) and an MBA from Northwest Nazarene University. She is currently working on her PhD in Business Administration, specialization -Finance. Prof. Sweet is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, with her CMA credentials and has also been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Society for Human Resource Management.

Learning Objectives: Students will learn the various options available for accounting majors as they prepare to start a career in the accounting industry.

Program Level:  Basic

 

Program Content: Panel of career accountants sharing their unique stories and giving options for current accounting students. Students will be given a variety of career options available to accounting majors. Panel speakers have multiple accounting backgrounds and experience in various accounting situations. Speakers will address specific prepared questions about their career. However, students will also be given the opportunity to ask questions. Two BSU students as well as one student from both C of I and NNU will be awarded an IMA Scholarship.
